Hemp research at colleges and universities is on the rise as scientists discover more uses and knowledge about hemp. New York State campuses are among the top hemp-based CBD (CBD) research universities, but many other states follow their lead.
Many colleges and universities in New York have received licenses to research the properties of hemp, including CBD-based medical applications. Among them are Cornell University and SUNY Morrisville. Cornell University is a well-respected agricultural school that studies how genes and the environment affect cannabinoid levels. It also develops a new genotyping system and tests molecular markers.
Like Charlotte's Web, the largest cannabis companies in the country are participating in these studies in New York. In addition, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced $5 Million in grants for hemp research.
Research at universities is growing mainly because of the loosening regulations that make it easier for researchers to obtain hemp for their studies.
Researchers are improving cultivation practices and finding new uses for CBD and hemp. However, the plant has been illegally grown for so many years. This means that there are still many steps to establish ideal farming practices.
Hemp cultivation will be more common due to increased research by universities. As a result, both new and experienced farmers will have clear guidance and best practices.
Many hemp farmers are keen to grow CBD-rich hemp. However, growing hemp for fiber or grain is becoming more popular. In addition, increased interest in hemp-based products by businesses like textiles and automobiles could lead to more university and college research.
